Saturday @ LeFever Lanes in Saginaw Hosted by Nouvel
The Frankenmuth Boys Varsity bowling team came up just a few pins shy of the Tri Valley Eastern Conference Title this past Saturday at LeFever Lanes in Saginaw.
The Eagles headed into the first match against Birch Run one game ahead of Birch Run and One game behind The Dukes of Garber in the standings. Frankenmuth needed to win match one to give there self a chance at a title match against the Dukes.
Match one saw the Panthers come out on Fire and the Eagles were very flat losing the first Baker by over 80 pins. The Eagles woke up in Baker number two fighting back to take it by 32 pins. Lightning then Thunder struck right from the first ball of the first Peterson when Senior Ethan Krueger fired a 223 and Junior Brian Farnsworth laced a 224 Started throwing strikes and did not stop. The duo led the Eagles to a huge Peterson win by over 180 pins. The Panthers would not go quietly in Baker number 2 The Duo of Krueger and Farnsworth again fired games of 192 Krueger and 201 Farnsworth to lead there team to a 16 1/2 to 13 1/2 win over the Panthers. Krueger and Farnsworth both throwing key strikes in the 10th frame to seal the victory. Senior Michael Schluckbier also added in a nice 193 game. This win gave the Eagles the opportunity to face Essexville Garber for the Title in Match two.
In Match Two the Eagles bowled good making almost every spare but they were unable to put any strikes together, They lead the entire game until Garber’s Anchor man threw 3 strikes in the 10th frame to take the game 177 to 170. The second baker was almost a carbon copy of the first, The Eagles were unable to put strike together and Garber’s anchor man Braedyn Hofmeister took care of business in the 10th frame striking out to win the baker 172 to 160.
The Eagles would not let them get to far out of sight as they again started out the first Peterson with Senior Ethan Krueger leading them not only scoring but keeping the team pumped up after every shot. The Eagles took an extremely close game 868 to 855 with Freshman Cameron Severs coming up big with a 202 game. So it all came down to the last game, with every shot taking both teams back and forth with the lead and the lane oil conditions falling apart both coaches making several adjustments with the bowlers. The 10th frame saw the Eagles making one last run with Farnsworth firing strikes in the 10th but again the Dukes had just enough to take the game , the match and the Eastern Conference Title by 15 pins.
We did not lose the Title, Garber won the Title…and thats what great bowling is all about.
They we’re just a little bit better than us today, I am extremely proud of our boys never giving up and fighting all the way to the end. Everyone contributed today, Logan Pickelmann came in to finish off a game and made 2 very key shots for us. I cannot say enough about Ethan and Brian leading there team all day. We still have a lot of bowling ahead of us with the TVC Championships and Regionals in a few weeks.
