The Lady Eagles closed out the 2018 portion of their season with a convincing win against the Patriots tonight. It was the tale of two halves as USA’s Rylee Zimmer kept the visitors in the game scoring 14 of her team’s 23 points. Despite her best effort, the Eagles were still able to hold a 31-23 lead heading into the break.
The third quarter proved to be the decisive stretch of the game as ‘Muth outscored USA 20-4 to put the game out of reach. The Eagle defense ratcheted up another level as they converted steals and turnovers into basket after basket. From that point, the Lady Eagles cruised the rest of the way and head into the Christmas break sporting a 4-2 overall record.
Junior guard Kelynn Kujat led the way tonight with 20 points, while fellow junior Sydney Merrihew had a season-high 10 points as well. The Eagles had a balanced scoring attack, as Brooklin Karwat and Emma Kerkau each chipped in with 8 points as well.
Rylee Zimmer was the lone Patriot in double figures, finishing with 18 points for the game.
