The Lady Eagles advanced to the District Championship game this Friday with a 43-29 victory over the Cavaliers. Frankenmuth came out on fire, jumping out to a 21-5 lead after the first quarter. The Eagles knocked down four three-pointers in the quarter as the offense was clicking to start the game.
Carrollton responded with toughness and some hot shooting themselves, outscoring the ‘Muth 17-8 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. With only a 7-point lead heading into the final stanza, the Eagles knocked down enough free throws and junior forward Brooklin Karwat scored 8 of her game-high 15 points down the stretch to seal the win.
Freshmen Emma Kerkau also reached double figures, finishing with 10 points, including 8 in the opening quarter. Senior Claire Breinager hauled down a team-high 8 rebounds, while Kelynn Kujat filled up the stat sheet with 7 boards, 6 assists, and 5 steals.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 13-7 on the season and will face Bridgeport, who upset defending district champion Birch Run in the second game of the evening. Tip-off for the championship game is scheduled for 7:00 PM this Friday.
