Frankenmuth going for the conference sweep, squandered a 4-0 lead to lose a tough game, 5-4. With the game scoreless , the Eagles broke through in the top of the 3rd inning. Faith Hippensteel led off with a double. Shea Hecht singled putting runners on 1st and 3rd. Anna Smith hit a line drive snagged by the SS and doubled off a runner making it two outs. Kaylee Kujat singled. Brooklin Karwat followed with a double driving in the first run. Emily Coulter then followed up with her third home run of the day, her 8th of the year driving in 3 runs making it 4-0. Garber chipped away scoring 2 in the third and 3 more in the 5th to take the lead. 5-4. In the 4th inning, Faith Breinager singled but was doubled off on a bunt that was caught. The 5th inning the Eagles went down 1-2-3. In the top of the 6th, trailing 5-4, the Eagles led off with two walks to Brooklin Karwat and an intentional walk to Emily Coulter but could not get a run across the plate. The Lady Eagles went down quietly one two three in the 7th.
Shea Hecht took the tough loss. 6 IP, 9 H, 1 SO, and 2 BB. Shea drops her record to 7-4. 6 different Eagles got 1 hit. Kaylee Kujat, Brooklin Karwat (double), Emily Coulter (Home Run, 3 RBI), Faith Breinager, Faith Hippensteel (Double) and Shea Hecht.
A disappointing loss for sure as we let a 4-0 lead slip away. We lost the game tonight at the plate. Other than 2 innings we did not do much offensively. We are striking out to many times and not being patient at at the plate. We hit the pitchers pitches to often tonight, and the results were not good. For the day, Emily Coulter went 3-6 with 3 home runs, 3 Runs, and 7 RBI.
The Eagles now stand at 18-6 and 7-1 in conference play. They will travel to Millington on Wednesday and to Cheasaning on Thursday.
