High school varsity soccer games are 80 minutes long. Fortunes can change in the blink of an eye. The Swan Valley team today is wishing they could replay a five minute span from yesterday’s contest against the visiting Frankenmuth Eagles. The first 20 minutes of the first half saw both teams roaring backing and forth the length of the pitch. To that point the Eagles had 4 shots on frame versus 2 for Swan Valley. Zack Morris, in the 20th minute, perfectly placed a set piece (Direct Kick) curing and dipping into the the far corner of the goal beating the Swan Valley goalie. Muth 1 – Swan Valley 0. Then two minutes later, Nick Carter headed an assist to Zack, who headed it pass the Swan Valley goalie. Muth 2 – Swan Valley 0. Then in the 25th minute, Collin Hales placed a pass perfectly to Nick Carter, who blasted a shot from distance to score the Eagles’ 3rd and final goal. Muth 3 – Swan Valley 0. This score held up to be the final. All season this Eagle team has relied on a total team effort, and the help of the total roster. Note that Zack and Collin came off the bench to place their fingerprints on the game; highlighted by Zack’s brace (2 goals). From this point on the game was a draw. In goal, Gabe Kiel recorded his 5th straight game keeping the opponents to zero goals. Gabe has 8 clean sheets in 14 matches. The Eagles will return to action Monday, 9/23/19, at 4:30 PM, with a home match against Birch Run. Please support the team. We would love to see you at the game.
