Frankenmuth Eagles needed a win against Alma to remain in the race to win or share in the Conference Championship. Facing a team that had a 3-1 result against the Eagles, the team knew the challenge would be great. It took 3 minutes into the contest to signal that the team was ready. It was then that Lathan Baker received a pass from Zack Morris to score from distance. Twenty-two minutes later, Collin Hale collected a cross from Captain Derek Williams that cleared the goalie, and deposited the ball inside of the far post to give the Eagles a 2-0, score line. In the waning minutes of the 1st half Alma scored the one and only goal they would have.. Battling back and forth for most of the 2nd half, at the 38th minute mark, Evan Baker collected a loose ball and hammered a shot over the keeper, who in spite of getting a hand on the ball, could not keep it out; our insurance goal. This was the final score of the contest, and the end result was a 3-1 win over the Alma team. Two games remain in conference play. A must win over Standish keeps us on path to competing for the title. We take one game at a time, and will focus our attention on Standish. “One team, one goal”, a subtext to our team motto would be “20 deep.” This is how many players are available on our roster, and it is how many play in our contests.
