The Frankenmuth Eagles opened the MHSAA playoffs with a 57 – 26 win over the Carrollton Cavaliers. Chris Mills opened the scoring in the 1st quarter on a 4 yard run but Darius Thomas evened the score for Carrolton on a 62 yard TD run. Davin Reif scored on a 10 yard run late in the opening quarter and the Eagles led 13 – 7 after one quarter. The 2nd quarter was an offensive explosion for both teams. Eagles Cole Lindow scored on a 13 yard run and Reif scored again from 1 yard and with 17 seconds remaining in the half, Reif connected with Cory Thompson on a 45 yard pass play and the Eagles led 36 – 19 at the half. The Eagles broke the game open in the 3rd quarter scoring three times on Reif’s third TD on a 2 yard run, Tyler Rich scoring form 7 yards and Lindow dashing 63 yards for a score, as Frankenmuth led 57 – 19 after the 3rd quarter. Thomas scored a 4th quarter TD for the Cavaliers for the 57 – 26 final. The Eagles rushed for 456 yards with ten different players carrying the ball, led by Lindow with 119 yards. Nate Fischer was the leading tackler with 10. The win was the 450th win in Frankenmuth Football Program history since 1956. The Eagles will host the Swan Valley Vikings as they defeated Garber by a 46 – 28 to set up the rematch for the District Championship.
