Julie Felten became interested in athletic training while in high school at Lutheran Northwest in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She assisted the certified athletic trainer who visited the school weekly and covered football games. Julie chose to stop playing basketball and soccer in high school after knee injuries required surgical intervention. She was led to discover the athletic training program at Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois (now Concordia University Chicago) through the encouragement of coaches and her athletic director. The internship program began before she ever took a college class. Julie graduated in four years with an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Fitness Management, minoring in business. She passed her boards in August 1999 becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association. Upon moving to Frankenmuth with her husband, Julie worked at Diversified Fitness Club and Diversified Physical Therapy. Other work experiences include Saginaw Metal Castings industrial athletic trainer, Delphi Automotive industrial athletic trainer, orthotic and prosthetic fitter and marketer through Michigan Orthopedic Services, Frankenmuth Medical Supply, internship with Shriners Hospital in orthotics and prosthetics, and staff athletic trainer with Sport and Spine Physical Therapy. Julie began at Frankenmuth High School in February 2003, and is currently an independent contractor under the direction of volunteer team physicians. She continues to work at Diversified Physical Therapy when she is not taking care of her three sons. The Felten family resides in Frankenmuth, attending St. Lorenz Lutheran School and Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. She can be reached at jfelten@frankenmuth.k12.mi.us
