Eagles News · Frankenmuth To Play Corunna Friday For District Championship

The 8 – 0 Frankenmuth Eagles Football team will compete against the Corunna Cavaliers this Friday at 7:00pm at Frankenmuth High School for a District Championship.  The Eagles advanced to the Championship game by defeating Almont last Friday 28 – 0.  The Cavaliers defeated Richmond in the District Semi-Final 27 – 10 to set up matchup against Frankenmuth.  Corunna, coached by Kyle Robinson in his 6th season as the Cavaliers Head Coach, compete in the Flint Metro II Conference.  They last won a District Championship in 2016.  Frankenmuth will be playing in it’s ninth consecutive District Championship game, bringing home the District crown in 2016, 2017, and 2018.  Coach Phil Martin will be coaching in his eighth District Championship game and he and his staff have compiled a 14 – 7 playoff record.  Frankenmuth and Corunna played in the first round of the playoffs in 1994 with the Cavaliers winning that game 49 – 26.  The winner of the game Friday will play for the Regional Championship next week against the winner of the Detroit Denby @ Marine City game.  Because of spectator limitation due to Covid-19, Eagle fans can catch the game on the NFHS Network or the Frankenmuth Sports Network.
