Boys Regionals Division 3 Region 17
Team Event: Friday 2/22
The eagles had high expectations going into this event after a good showing in the TVC Championships the previous weekend.
The tournament consisted of 6 Baker games and 3 regular Peterson games.
Starting out game one it appeared the Eagles were dialed in firing a very nice 197 baker game, but just that quick the momentum turned and the eagles could not find there spare game. The next 5 Baker games saw the eagle squad not able to break the 160 mark.
The strength of the Eagle squad all season had been the Peterson games so all hope was not lost. (we knew we could make up a lot of pins in the Peterson’s if we could find our lines. But the poor spare shooting continued on into the Peterson’s and the Eagles could only fire scores of 767, 858 and 794. Bright spots for the Eagles were Junior Brian Farnsworth firing nice games of 200, 203, 184 Also Ethan Krueger 206 and 176. The eagle finished in 12th place out of 17 teams competing.
Singles Event: Saturday 2/23
Six Eagles entered the Singles Competition with a total of 99 bowlers competing to make the top 10 to Qualify for the state championships.
This part of the tournament really is a marathon, Our bowlers throw 6 regular Peterson games moving lanes after each game.
The oil pattern put out on the lanes for this tournament was the challenging Allen Pattern, Moving lanes each game also keeps you guessing the first 2 or 3 frames of each game. Senior Ethan Krueger lead the way for the Eagles in this competition leading the tournament the first 2 games and in the top 10 thru 5 games but with the lanes changing rapidly towards the end of the tournament could not hold on to a top 10 spot and finished in 17th overall. Brian Farnsworth also had a good tournament staying in the top 20 all day finishing 19th overall. Senior Michael Schluckbier 45th, Logan Pickelmann 56th, Hunter Garchow 57th, Cameron Severs 61st out of 99 bowlers competing.
All Conference Awards:
Taking home first team all conference TVC EAST were both Ethan Krueger and Brian Farnsworth ….Second Team Michael Schluckbier.
Coaches Comments: This ends our season of 2018/2019 It was a tough way to end what was a pretty good season, you bowl all year to have a shot at the state championships or a divisional title. We came up 15 pins shy of the division and never really found our groove at Regionals.
Our program took a huge step forward this season though, We became an official school sport, We had 15 boys participate 8 Junior Varsity and 7 Varsity.
We graduate 3 seniors that bowled all four years on Varsity Ethan Krueger, Michael Schluckbier and Ryan Hauck. We saw a school record 279 game by Brian Farnsworth, Also had 6 freshman join our program that really improved throughout the season. I would really like to send out a few really big thank you to a few of our supporters, Brian wallicek of King Pin Pro Shop, The Doug Opera Bowling Foundation, The Frankenmuth/Vassar Bowling hall of Fame, The Frankenmuth Credit Union, But most of all Bob Kline and his staff at Candlelite Bowling Center. Bob has been extremely generous to our bowling program over the past 8 years and I cannot say Thanks enough for all of his support. As many of you may have herd already Candlelite will be closing its doors at the end of June, we are currently in the process of selecting a new bowling center for the 2019/2020 season. Thanks to all and see you next year !
