Eagles News · Boy’s Bowling places 15th at Kick off the Season Tournament in Lansing

The Varsity Eagle squad headed for Lansing on Sunday Morning 12/2 to take part in the KICK OFF THE SEASON tournament hosted by Flint Kearsley and Davison at Royal Scot lanes. The tournament format was 12 baker games of qualifying.

There were 20 boys teams entered in the season opening tournament from all divisions.

There were 8 Division 1 teams.. 6 Division 2 teams..5 Division 3 teams and 1 division 4 team.

The competition was as tough as the oil pattern that the eagles had to face on the lanes. The oil pattern was the State Championship Allen pattern.

The eagles squad had an up and down day as this was also an NCAA format where you bowled your complete Baker game on one lane then changed.

The Eagles finished 15th out of 20 teams averaging 155 as a team for the day through 12 baker games.

As for Division 3 teams the eagles finished second to Portland who made the cut and was 8th overall.

Coaches Comments:

I think it was a very good start to the season for us. We bowled good at our home bowling center on Saturday.

On Sunday we jumped right into the strongest competition the state has to offer, a measuring stick you might say.

We need to improve on our one and two pin spare game on the tougher oil patterns…thats what stood out to me the most.

we cannot give away the easy pins. We are seven strong on the varsity this year with a lot of competition for playing time. We have a lot of bowling in the month of December coming up and we will see who can take charge and secure spots as a starter.
