Multiple Teams · Girls and Boys Cross Country Perform Well at MSU

The Frankenmuth boys and girls cross country teams competed in one of the largest cross country events in Michigan on Friday as they travelled to the Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing to compete in the Spartan Invitational.  This year, we moved up a division and still competed very well.  The girls finished 7th out of 35 teams and the boys finished 26 out of 40 teams.  Coach Fitch and I like this meet even though it is a fair distance away as it gives the team a chance to race against the best teams in the State (all classes).

Senior Hannah Loucks led the lady Eagles with a 7th place overall finish out of 250+ runners with a time of 19:59.  Freshman Gabbie Michael is really coming on and will be helping push Hannah even faster.  Gabbie finished 10th overall as she raised her mark on the top-10 record board which she earned last week as number nine.  Gabbie finished with a time of 20:03.9 for a personal record and a three second move up on the record board chasing graduate Carissa Schurr (20:00.0).  Carissa also ran today in the collegian race for Ferris State University.

The Junior Varsity girls finished 22nd out of 57 teams to have a strong showing.  There were 784 runners just in this one JV race so there was plenty of competition.  Junior Gabby Harris ran a nice race as she placed 42nd with a time of 22:47.  Sophomore Alyssa Abke is coming off being sick the week before and put in a good time of 22:53 placing 49th.    Both Gabby and Alyssa earned medals for finishing in the top 50.

Sophomore Wesley Beck ran a very strong race finishing 11th overall in a strong field of 280+ runners.  Wesley clocked a 17:26 just eight seconds off his personal record.  Wesley earned a medal for placing in the top 30 runners in the varsity race.
