Game Recap

Frankenmuth traveled to Clio for a regional matchup against Essexville Garber, a team that defeated the Eagles twice during the season. Frankenmuth got their revenge as they scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat the Dukes 6-5.

Garber scored first in the top of the 1’st scoring a run. Garber tacked on two more runs in the top of the 4th to make the score 3-0. But in the bottom of the 4th, the Eagles would get on the scoreboard. Laura Farnsworth reached base on an error when the second basemen threw the ball into the dugout allowing Farnsworth to take second. Tara Keller pinch ran for Farnsworth. Megan Jarlock walked to put runners on first and second. Brooklin Karwat singled home Keller putting runners on first and second. Mya Bellinger put down a nice sacrifice bunt moving the runners up. Claire Breinager singled home a run and when the throw from center field came in wild to home plate, it allowed Karwat to scamper home for the third run. Madison Jammer laid down a perfect bunt getting a base hit. Kaylee Kujat hit a hard ground ball to shortstop who bobbled the ball allowing Breinager to score the 4th run giving the Eagles the lead. The score stayed the same until the 7th inning. Going back to earlier in the season, in game 2 of the doubleheader against these two schools, the Eagles had a one run lead going into the 7th only to lose by a run. Same situation today, the Eagles up by 1 needing 3 outs for the win. Garber led off the inning with a single and the next batter hit a 2 run home run putting the Dukes up 5-4. The next batter doubled, but the Eagles settled down and retired the next 3 batters limiting the damage.
After the first out, Megan Jarlock hit a ball off the top part of the fence just missing a home run by inches but getting a double. Brooklin Karwat followed up with her third hit of the game, an RBI double tying the score. A ground out moved Karwat to third. With two outs, Claire Breinager hit a pop up between the pitcher, second basemen and short stop and fell in scoring Karwat for the win.

Emily Coulter was the winning pitcher, 1 BB, 5 SO, to notch her 21’st win.
Kaylee Kujat and Brooklin Karwat (2 RBI, Double) each had 3 hits. Claire Breinager had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Emily Coulter, Hannah Karwat, Megan Jarlock (double), and Madison Jammer all had 1 hit each.
“I expected a close game and it was. I never doubted our girls that they couldn’t come back, they have been doing it all year” They kept battling and never gave up. As a coach that is all that you ask for, very proud of the comeback and effort”
