Frankenmuth took on Mt. Morris in a district semi-final matchup and defeated them 10-0 in 5 innings. Emily Coulter pitched a good game yielding 1 hit, 1 walk, while striking out 5 batters in the shut out win.
Kaylee Kujat led the game off with a walk. When Emily Coulter’s bunt was thrown into right field, Kujat came all away around to score. A ground out got Anne Matzke (running for Coulter) over to third. Matzke would then score on an error by the second basemen. In the second inning, Claire Breinager singled with one out. She was sacrificed over to second by Madison Jammer. With two outs, Kaylee Kujat hit a long home run over the left field fence scoring Breinager. Emily Coulter followed with a single. After an error put runners on first and second, Laura Farnsworth doubled home a run making the score 5-0. In the 4th inning, Kaylee Kujat executed a bunt for a single. Emily Coulter followed up with her second hit of the game with another single. Kujat then stole third base and came home on a ground out by Hannah Karwat. Laura Farnsworth followed with a run scoring double making the score 7-0. In the 5th inning, Mya Bellinger led off with an infield single. Madison Jammer reached on an error, then Kaylee Kujat hit her second home run of the game driving in 3 runs.
For the game, Kujat, walked, hit a 2 run home run, single for a bunt, and hit a 3 run home run finishing the game also with 4 runs scored and 5 RBI. Quite a game.
Laura Farnsworth had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Emily Coulter had 2 hits. Hannah Karwat (2 RBI), Brooklin Karwat, Mya Bellinger and Claire Breinager all had one hit.
The girls played well and Emily was sharp on the mound. 3 of the 5 innings were in 1-2-3 fashion.
