Frankenmuth High School
Birch Run High School
With the win in the semi-final game, Frankenmuth earned the right to play Birch Run for the District Championship and did not fail as the Eagles took the game 7-2. Emily Coulter got her 20th win of the season as she retired the first 13 Panthers in a row before allowing a single. She ended up retireing 19 of the first 20 batters. Birch Run scored 2 runs in the 7th but to little to late.
The game was scoreless through 2 when the Eagles erupted for 6 runs in the third as they sent 11 batters to the plate. After a pop up, Madison Jammer got on base when the pitcher bobbled the ball. Kaylee Kujat got hit by the pitch. Emily Coulter singled the bases loaded. Hannah Karwat, Laura Farnsworth had run scoring singles. Megan Jarlock followed up with a single driving in two runs. Brooklin Karwat also singled home a run. The Eagles wrapped up the scoring in the 4th inning. Kaylee Kujat doubled and came to third on a stolen base, and when the throw went into left field Kujat scored.
Though the team only had 8 hits, we bunched a lot of those together scoring 6 runs as 8 straight batters reached base.
Hannah Karwat, Brooklin Karwat were the only girls with 2 hits. Kaylee Kujat, Emily Coulter, Laura Farnsworth, Megan Jarlock, each had 1 hit.
We played well all day and made some real nice defensive plays. Kaylee Kujat caught a couple of foul balls, Hannah Karwat made a Jeter’esque move to throw out a Birch Run girl. Karwat fielded the ball and did a 360 only to throw a strike to first base and get the girl by a step. And Megan Jarlock caught a nice over the shoulder catch.
Frankenmuth now advances to the Regional next Saturday to take on Essexville Garber at 12:00. The Eagles were beaten by Garber earlier in the season and has hopes of getting revenge. Frankenmuth’s overall record is at 30-8-1. This is the second time in three years that the Eagles have reached the 30 win total
