Game Recap

Frankenmuth started state tournament play with a pre-district game against Clio at the Frankenmuth varsity field. It was just last week that these two schools hooked up and Clio came away with a 12-7 win and a 6-6 tie but today the Eagles would not be denied as they won a 6 inning mercy 11-1.

Emily Coulter was the winning pitcher, 6 IP, 1 BB, 5 SO, 3 H, 0 ER
The Eagles escaped a bases loaded situation in the top of the first and came back with 3 of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Kaylee Kujat got things started with a leadoff triple and came home on a wild pitch. Emily Coulter walked, and back to back singles by Hannah Karwat and Laura Farnsworth (RBI) brought the second run home. The third run came home on a ground out by Brooklin Karwat.
Clio scored their run in the top of the third on an error but Frankenmuth came back in the bottom of the inning. Megan Jarlock hit a Home Run into the teeth of the win scoring Hannah Karwat who singled making the score 5-1, Frankenmuth. In the bottom of the 5th, 3 straight singles by Emily Coulter, Hannah Karwat and an RBI single by Laura Farnsworth produced a run. Megan Jarlock hit a sacrifice fly for an RBI and Mya Bellinger finished the scoring with an RBI single making the score 8-1, Frankenmuth. In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Lady Eagles had 5 straight hits to score 3 runs. Kaylee Kujat singled and stole second. She came home on a single by Emily Coulter. Singles by Hannah Karwat and Laura Farnsworth (RBI) produced the second run in the inning and Megan Jarlock finished the game with an RBI single.

The 1-5 batters for Frankenmuth went 13-18 with all 11 runs scored. “The girls came well prepared and determined after a good day of practice yesterday. They were very business like and had really good approaches at the plate.” I was very proud the way we played and now we will go back to practice tomorrow to get ready for Saturday.

Frankenmuth will take on Mt Morris at 10:00 with the winner taking on the winner between Birch Run and Flint Northwestern.

Offensively the Eagles were led by Hannah Karwat who was 4-4 with 4 runs scored. Laura Farnsworth 3-4 (3 RBI). Megan Jarlock (Home Run, 4 RBI), Kaylee Kujat (triple, SB), and Emily Coulter all had 2 hits. Anne Matzke, courtesy runner scored 2 runs.

Frankenmuth’s overall record is 28-8-1
