Mt. Pleasant High School
Frankenmuth High School
Frankenmuth took on the Oilers from Mt. Pleasant in game 3 for the championship and despite a late rally in the 7th to tie the game, they lost in 8 innings 7-6. Madison Jammer took the loss in relief. She came in relief in the 6th inning and held the Oilers down until the 8th. “Madison held Mt Pleasant down for 2 innings to allow us back into the game” After falling behind 5-0 the Lady Eagles started their comeback in the bottom of the 6th. Kaylee Kujat led off and got on base on an error by the third baseman. With one out, Hannah Karwat doubled to left center scoring Kujat for the first run. That was only the third hit of the game for the Eagles. Karwat and Brooklin Karwat singled in the 4th and 5th innings respectively. Hannah Karwat scored on an RBI single by Laura Farnsworth. Megan Jarlock singled but the rally ended with 2 runs. After Mt Pleasant did not score in the 7th, the Eagles were taking their last at bats. Sending 8 batters to the plate the Eagles scored 3 times to tie the game and force extra innings. After an out, Madison Jammer dropped down an bunt single. Kaylee Kujat walked. Emily Coulter then doubled home both Jammer and Kujat making the score 5-4. Hannah Karwat followed with an RBI single tying the game at 5. That was all the Eagles could get as we head into the 8th inning. Using the international tie breaker rule, the Oilers scored 2 runs in the top of the 8th making the score 7-5. The Eagles would not quit. After an out, Brooklin Karwat singled home Tara Keller who was running for Claire Breinager. Madison Jammer sacrificed Karwat to second but the Eagles could not get the tying run home.
In the first 5 innings, Frankenmuth only had 3 baserunners. The first nine batters were retired to start the game. But from inning 6-8, the Eagles had 6 hits and scored 6 runs.
“We faced another very good #1 pitcher and despite 9 strike outs, we found a way to score enough runs for force extra innings. This was our final tune up for the state tournament which begins Tuesday against Clio at 4:00 at our home field. It will be two teams pretty much even with each other.
Frankenmuth finished the regular season with a 27-8-1 record improving on last years record of 22-17.
Hannah Karwat had 3 hits(double 2 RBI) and went 7-10 for the day. Brooklin Karwat had 2 hits. Emily Coulter (double, 2 RBI), Laura Farnsworth, Megan Jarlock, and Madison Jammer all had 1 hit.
