Game Recap

Frankenmuth took on Grosse Point Liggett in game 2 and came away with a 7-4 win after falling behind 4-0. Frankenmuth bunched 6 of their 8 hits in innings 3 and 4 to score the 7 runs and also took advantage of some errors on the defense. Emily Coulter was the winning pitcher in relief, 3 1/3 IP, 2 BB, 2 SO, 2 H, 0 R.

Trailing 4-0, the Eagles started the rally. Kaylee Kujat walked, Emily Coulter singled and when Hannah Karwat singled to right field scoring a run, Coulter came around to score as the ball got by the right fielder. In the 4th inning, Claire Breinager and Madison Jammer both singled. Breinager ended up scoring on a wild pitch and Jammer scored on an RBI single by Hannah Karwat. Laura Farnsworth had an infield single scoring another run and 2 other errors produced 2 more runs.

Grosse Pointe Liggett was dealing with some injuries so they had to use their bench but they still had their ace on the mound, Emma St. John who earlier in the season recorded her 1000 strike out in her career. She was able to get the Eagles 8 times in 5 innings.

Offensively, Hannah Karwat (2 RBI), Emily Coulter, and Laura Farnsworth (RBI) each had 2 hits. Brooklin Karwat, Claire Breinager and Madison Jammer had 1 hit each.

It was a nice win in the fact we came back from 4 runs down. We have come from behind in quite a few games this year so this was nothing new for the girls. The girls have also faced some real good pitching of late from last weekend’s tournament through this week with Millington and Clio and now today.

In the other game, Imlay City took Mt Pleasant to 8 innings but came up short 8-6 setting up the game between Mt. Pleasant and Frankenmuth for the championship.
