All Saints Central High School
Frankenmuth High School
After a senior night celebration for this year’s lone senior, Danny Mills, the Eagles built some momentum with an early lead. With 2 outs, Mills singled and was followed by Garrett Rezmer who blistered a grounder to third that was bobbled and then thrown away by the fielder. Mills hustled all the way around the bases and scored to put the Eagles up 1-0.
The Eagles threatened all game loading the bases in the second and third, but a couple of close defensive plays kept the Eagles off the board.
In the top of the third the Cougars struck. After retiring the first batter the Cougars singled, walked and moved up to second and third on a wild pitch. A single to center then scored a run to tie the game and looked to give BCAS the lead, but Zach Freier threw a rocket home and Kyle Robinson applied the quick tag to throw the runner out. Unfortunately a single, walk and double after that scored 2 more runs and put BCAS up 3-1.
A lead off single by Joby Ostrofsky started the bottom of the fourth off right for the Eagles. Stan Trombley then laid down a great bunt to put Joby in scoring position and Zach Freier came up with a big single to score Ostrofsky from second to make it a 3-2 game. Zach stole second, but again a solid defensive play by the Cougar shortstop ended the inning. From there the pitchers took in allowing only 2 runners through the final 3 innings and the Eagles dropped game 2 3-2.
Joby Ostrofsky led the Eagle hitters going 2-3 with a run scored.
Zach Freier, Danny Mills, Ben Schuler, Nick Hartman Kyle Robinson and Garrett Rezmer each picked up a hit each.
Nick Hartman picked up the loss throwing a solid 6 innings giving up 5 hits, 3 earned runs and 3 walks while striking out 7.
Austin Johnson closed the game out throwing the final inning giving up no hits, walks or runs.
