In game 2 of the Beal City invite the Eagles took on Lawrence. It took the Eagles a few innings to adjust to the pitching and Lawrence broke the scoreless tie in the top of the 4th. A single, double and a walk loaded the bases. A grounder up the middle was beat out at second by the runner and put Lawrence up 1-0. Another walk made it 2-0 and a single to right made it 4-0 before the Eagle defense could get out of the inning.
Frankenmuth was finally able to get to the pitcher in the bottom of the 5th. Connor Campbell singled to left, the Joby Ostrofsky and Jackson Mahnke each singled to load the bases. A single by Dan Szczepanski allowed Campbell to score, then a single by Zach Freier scored Ostrofsky to make it 4-2. A fielders choice to second allowed a run to score to bring the Eagles within 1. Then with 2 outs Kyle Robinson singled to score both Szczepanski and Danny Mills to put the Eagles up 5-4.
A double, single and ground out allowed 1 Lawrence run to score and tie the game up at 5. In the bottom of the 7th Dan Szczepanski started things off with a single, then singles by Zach Freier and Danny Mills loaded the bases. Garrett Rezmer then laced a line drive up the middle that the shortstop, who was pulled in, made a diving catch and was able to double up the runner at second. A walk by Kyle Robinson reloaded the bases for Ben Schuler who came through with a clutch single to score Szczepanski from third for the 6-5 walk-off win.
Kyle Robinson led all Eagle hitters goint 2-3 with 2 RBIs and an intentional walk.
Joby Ostrofski went 2-3 with a run scored.
Dan Szczepanski went 2-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Zach Freier went 2-4 with an RBI.
Austin Johnson got the start and threw 6 1/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 6 hits while walking 4 and striking out 4.
Kevin Heinzman got the win throwing 2/3 of an inning striking out 1.
