Garrett Rezmer took to the mound and after striking out the lead off batter, gave up his only walks of the game before getting a pop out and strike out to end the inning. The Eagles took a few innings to settle back in on offense but Garrett settled in and help the Panthers scoreless.
Nick Hartman started the scoring for the Eagles in the 2nd leading off the inning by getting hit by pitch. Nick stole second and third then scored on a passed ball. Luke Scharrer and Jackson Mahnke each singled to keep the rally going, but couldn’t get home to open the game up.
Connor Campbell and Garrett Rezmer hit back to back singles in the bottom of the third to start things off and Nick Hartman walked to load the bases. Dan Szczepanski came in to run for Rezmer, then with 2 outs Kyle Robinson singled to score both Campbell and Szczepanski and move Hartman to third.
A single, wild pitch and an error on a throw to third allowed Nouvel to get on the board at 3-1. It stayed that way until the top of the third. Nouvel started the inning with a double and a triple that made it a 3-2 game. Then the Panther’s tied it up with a 2 out single.
The Eagle found a little 2 out magic in bottom of the 6th. Joby Ostrofsky walked with 2 outs then scored from first on a double by Zach Freier to put the Eagles on top 4-3. Connor Campbell laid a bunt down the third base line and the Panther pitcher rushed the throw and sent the ball over the head of the first baseman allowing Freier to score and Campbell to make it all the way to third. Rezmer then singled to score Campbell. Austin Notter came in the game to run for Garrett and took second on a passed ball, then scored on a single by Nick Hartman to take a 7-3 lead.
Rezmer struck out the first 2 Panther hitters before hitting his pitch count cap and Kevin Heinzman got the final out to preserve the sweep.
