Frankenmuth High School
It was a great night in the ‘Muth as the Lady Eagles celebrated parents’ and senior night in their final home regular season game this year. Following the pre-game festivities, Frankenmuth took to the court to take on TVC East foe, the Caro Tigers.
The first offensive possession of the game saw the Eagles get a basket for senior Emily Janson, who has been out all season with a knee injury. Both teams cooperated in letting the senior guard make an uncontested layup before the Eagles called time-out and remove her from the game. It was a touching moment for the Eagle senior who hasn’t been able to stay healthy these last two seasons.
The Eagles took quick control of the game tonight with a fast-paced, offensive attack that led to 24 first quarter points and a 19-point advantage. Frankenmuth continued to score in bunches as they raced out to a 37-14 lead at the half. The Eagles got great scoring balance in the game, with three girls finishing in double figures, led by Kelynn Kujat’s 12 points, Lindsey Mertz with 11, and Kayla Kueffner chipping in with 10. All 12 Eagle players got into the scoring column in the game.
The Tigers were led by Mackenzie Smith, who finished with 15 points, including a pair of threes. Hannah Dennis added 9 points, all on three-point shots.
