Frankenmuth High School
Millington High School
After having to go to overtime to defeat the Cardinals earlier this season, Frankenmuth found themselves in another hard-fought, nailbiter at Millington tonight. Leading most of the game, the Eagles let the Cardinals back in the game in the fourth quarter as their offense sputtered a little and Millington’s inside game took over. In spite of losing the lead, the ‘Muth managed to get it back with a layup off of a steal by Kaylee Kujat and then got enough defensive stops to preserve the win, 48-46
Leading the way for the Eagles was Lindsey Mertz. The senior finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Kayla Kueffner had a solid game with 9 points on 3 three-pointers. Kelynn Kujat rebounded from a mini-slump to chip in 9 points as well, including a pair of threes. The Eagles finished with eight treys as a team.
Millington was powered by Hannah Hall and Elizabeth Selich, who shared game-high honors with 16 points apiece.
Frankenmuth looks forward to Tuesday night as they host Birch Run in a showdown of the top two teams in the TVC East. The Eagles defeated the Panthers by a single point earlier this year at Birch Run.
