The Frankenmuth Eagle Varsity volleyball team hosted a twelve team tournament on Saturday, September 24. Teams involved in the tournament include Rochester Adams, South Lyon East, Cadillac, Brandon, Garber, Kearsley, Clio, St. Charles, Laker, Reese, Frankfort and host team, Frankenmuth. Eight of those teams played at Frankenmuth High School and the remaining four teams played at E. F. Rittmueller Middle School.

The Eagles started the day excited and ready to conquer the teams ahead of them. Frankenmuth started the day against Frankfort who had just gotten off of a 3 hour bus drive to make it to the tournament. Frankenmuth defeated Frankenmuth both sets with scores of 25-3, 25-10. Frankenmuth worked a match before taking on Flint Kearsley for the second match of pool play. The Kearsley Hornets were defeated by the Eagles 25-14, 25-15. The Frankenmuth Eagles saw South Lyon East for the last match of pool play and split with them winning the first set 25-15 before losing a tough set 21-25.

After all pools finished, the Eagles finished pool play seeded #2 overall and would face St. Charles. The Eagles defeated the St. Charles Bulldogs earlier this season and were able to come out strong and defeat them in 2 straight sets again this time around as well. The final score of the match was 25-10, 25-16.

In the semi-finals the Eagles would see the South Lyon East Cougars for the second time, although this time the Eagles would defeat the Cougars in 3 sets. After losing the first set 22-25 the Eagles came back strong and defeated South Lyon East the next two sets 25-21 and 15-12.

The championship match was set up between #1 seed of the day, Cadillac Vikings and the #2 overall seed Frankenmuth Eagles. According to Michigan Volleyball Coaches Association (MIVCA) week 3 rankings Cadillac is #4 in class B and Frankenmuth is honorable mention class B. Frankenmuth fought hard in sets 2 and 3 before falling to the Vikings in 3 sets. The final scores were 12-25, 25-20, 11-15.
