Matt Hinds and Elliott Trombley each tallied three points to lead Frankenmuth to 8-0 shutout win over Birch Run. In a game shortened by MHSAA “Mercy Rules”, Frankenmuth scored just 30 seconds in when Trombley sent a cross to Jimmy Johnson who drove it home for a 1-0 lead. Matt Hinds then scored the next three goals for the Eagles, the first unassisted, the last two on assists from Doyle Webb and Josh Pendleton to make the score 4-0 at the half. It didn’t take long for the Eagles to continue their scoring in the second half as Trombley scored five minutes in. Johnson scored his second goal off a nice pass from Jack Lee and just minutes later Nathan Worden got in the scorebook on a header served up by Trombley. The game ended when Jack Lee’s laser from 25 yards out found the upper right corner for the final 8-0 score. Frankenmuth outshot Birch Run 17-0 for the game and took 12 corners to 0 for the Panthers. The win improves Frankenmuth’s record to 8-2-0 (4-0 TVC East).
